PRESS RELEASE
DOTZLER PROMOTED TO PRESIDENT & CEO OF UNITED BANK OF IOWA
Kenneth L. Van Kekerix, Chairman of the Board of United Bank of Iowa, is pleased to announce the promotion of Daniel L. Dotzler to President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective June 1, 2022. Dotzler will replace Owen Bolte who has served as President and CEO for the past 14 years. Bolte will continue to serve on the Board of Directors of United Bank of Iowa and the holding company, Ida Grove Bancshares, Inc.
Dotzler has been with United Bank of Iowa for the past 25 years. A native of Defiance, Iowa, Dotzler graduated from Harlan High School and furthered his education at Des Moines Area Community College in Boone, Iowa State University and the Graduate School of Banking. A former field examiner for the FDIC, Dotzler joined United Bank of Iowa in 1997 as an Ag Loan Officer in the Denison office. He also served as Denison’s Office Manager for six years. In September, 2006, he was promoted to Senior Vice President Operations and Control and took on Cashier responsibilities in August, 2007. In May, 2008, Dotzler was promoted to Executive Vice President and Control/Cashier overseeing all operations of the bank. In his new role as President and CEO, he will manage all areas of the bank. Dotzler has also served on the Board of Directors for the past 11 years.
Van Kekerix commented, “Dan Dotzler’s new role as President and CEO is a natural transition as he has been managing bank operations for the past 14 years. In any vibrant organization, change is expected to continue to have growth and accommodate the success we’ve experienced, however customers will not notice any difference.” Van Kekerix continued, “Owen and Dan have worked closely together for many years. Dan has done an excellent job in his previous roles and I’m confident he will do a great job as President and CEO."
Dan and his wife, Cindy, have three children. Ciara (Lindgren) is a nurse at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Ben works for the State of Missouri as a Bank Examiner in Kansas City, and Ellie is a student at Iowa State University.
Van Kekerix continued, “I would also like to thank Owen Bolte for serving as United Bank of Iowa’s President and CEO for the past 14 years. Owen has done an outstanding job managing the bank through many acquisitions and we’ve seen substantial growth during his leadership. His knowledge and experience will continue to be a great asset to our board of directors. Everyone at UBI wishes Owen and his wife, Carol, a well-deserved retirement!”
